A Silicon Valley Real Estate Kitchen Remodel is a Great Choice for Sellers

Consider a kitchen remodel to enjoy your Silicon Valley real estate and increase its value. When considering upgrades to your Silicon Valley real estate a kitchen remodel is likely to provide the biggest return on investment and also give a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. Many real estate professionals recommend updating the kitchen before a sale. Nationally, kitchen remodels provide a 62 percent return on investment (according to the National Association of Realtors’ 2017 Remodeling Impact Report). In hot markets, like the Bay Area, kitchen remodels often bring in over 100 percent return on investment (according to Remodeling’s 2017 Cost Vs. Value report). It is a hot selling point to come tour a home and see a beautifully updated kitchen. That means the new homeowner will have one less thing to update after purchasing a Silicon Valley home. Therefore, a home is likely to sell faster with an updated kitchen. Talk to your realtor about the benefits of a full remodel vs. updating certain parts of the kitchen. There could be benefits of either before selling a home.

No Matter How Long You Stay in Your Silicon Valley Home, You’ll Enjoy a New Kitchen

A new and beautiful kitchen also offers a sense of joy and satisfaction in being at home. This means that even if you are not planning to sell your Silicon Valley real estate in the near future, it may be a good idea to go through with a kitchen remodel. Studies have shown that an updated kitchen makes people more happy being in their homes. This, in turn, can help people save money and be healthier by staying home and cooking. Think of the joy you would feel gazing into a new and beautiful kitchen while relaxing in the living room. Also, imagine the joy of preparing dinner in a clean and sleek new space with top of the line appliances and designer cabinets. Get that old kitchen out and enjoy it when still living in the home. If, in a year or two you are looking to sell your home, this update will already be done and it will be easy to get top dollar and sell fast.

Staging Silicon Valley Property? Read Our Best Tips for an Open House

Get staging tips to sell your Silicon Valley property fast.Ensure that an open house for your Silicon Valley property is a success by committing to thorough preparation. No one wants to walk into a cluttered, dark home that smells funny. Talk to your real estate professional about ways to prepare and also consider these tips.

Remove any unneeded items from your home and put them in storage. Homeowners need to create a space that potential buyers can envision themselves living in. It would also be a good idea to make it look like there is more than enough storage space. Clean out closets and underneath sink cabinets. Leave only what is necessary because visitors will be opening up everything. In addition to decluttering, make sure everything in your house is clean. No one wants to see dirty grout lines, pet hair, or gunk in the refrigerator. Dust, wipe down everything, and clean mirrors and windows.

Make Your Silicon Valley Home Look at Bright and Inviting as Possible

In addition to cleaning the windows, make sure to open up all the blinds or curtains and turn on all of the lights before an open house at your Silicon Valley home. Consider switching to brighter light bulbs. This is especially important in rooms that have dark paint colors or small windows. The more light you can get in your home, the brighter, more open, and more spacious it will look. Turn on under cabinet and hood lighting as well, so that it lights up the space and so potential buyers will notice it.

Those attending an open house at your Silicon Valley property will really notice if you take the time to prepare properly. They will know that you are serious about selling and that this could be a great place to put an offer on. Going the extra mile means ensuring your house smells good. Clean out all litter boxes, pet food dishes, and make sure no pet hair is on the floor or furniture. Consider baking something delicious smelling in the oven before guests arrive to make your home smell warm and inviting. Also think about preparing materials to set out about things like utility costs and available companies, details about home renovations or repairs, or the date when the new roof was put on. The more information potential buyers have about a home and the better it looks when they come to see it makes it more likely to sell quickly.

How to Decorate Silicon Valley Real Estate That Feels Timeless and Classic

Get Silicon Valley real estate decorating tips.If you’re thinking about doing renovation on your Silicon Valley real estate, you might be wondering what the latest trends are. Those considering selling a Silicon Valley home want to make their house appealing to buyers. Even people who aren’t planning on moving want to have a contemporary look. However, everyone knows that going too trendy is a problem. No one wants to end up with the 21st century equivalent of the avocado green 70s kitchen or teal and peach 90s living room. But if you look around at design websites, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all the new suggestions and advice. Subway tile, chevron patterns, granite countertops, shades of gray on the walls--they’re all coming in or going out. How do you know what’s going to look good in five years or even in one year? The other problem is wanting to feel like your house reflects your own style.

Consider Hiring a Decorator to Help with Decisions Decorating Your Silicon Valley Home

The secret is that there isn’t really a secret. If you go entirely with what’s on trend now, you’re most likely going to end up with a very dated interior within a decade. The key to good decorating that stands up for years on end is timelessness and simplicity. Professional decorators usually suggest picking one focal point for each room that you’re redecorating. If you love oversized art and want a large piece in your living room, everything else in the room will need to relate to the painting or sculpture. In the kitchen, you may want to go with a colorful granite countertop or dramatic wood cabinets. This means that the color of the walls, the flooring, and the lighting will need to coordinate with the dramatic finish of your counter or cabinets.

This might feel boring. Before you write the idea of timelessness off, have a look at photos of rooms that feel calm, warm, and welcoming. Pay attention to colors and textures. If you feel confused about what goes together, it might be a good idea to consult with a professional. For just a few hundred dollars, you can get expert advice on paint colors, flooring, and other finishes. This small investment up front can save you lots of money correcting mistakes later, not to mention unhappiness and angst.

We’re always ready to advise people looking to buy or sell Silicon Valley real estate. As experts with many years working in the area, we can help point you in the right direction for home improvements. Give us a call today!
