The Golden Heart Fund provides funding support and relief for the alumni players of the 49ers in times of physical, financial, and emotional need. The fund itself is lead by the 49ers alumni greats, as well as their past and present ownership. On November 19th, 2017 fans who want to offer their support are able to participate in a particular Golden Heart event that gives them the chance to train like members of the team in a way that is fun but physically challenging as well. At Levi’s Stadium that Sunday morning, the Golden Heart Run will turn the well-known landmark of Santa Clara real estate into a race for this worthy cause. The faithful support from all their fans is one of the reasons the 49ers are so proud to call Santa Clara home.
The day of the big race all the parking lots of Levi’s Stadium will open at 6 a.m. Then the 49K Team Relay will begin at 6:30 a.m, and the 4.9K will start at 9 o’clock that morning. Since the event is meant to be family oriented, there will be a Junior Run for the kids starting at 10:15 a.m., and the Awards will be given at 10:30 a.m. All the runners, walkers, and their supporters, will be invited to stay for the Post Race Party that will last from 10 o’clock in the morning until 1 p.m. Participants are encouraged to pick up their “bibs” on Saturday the day before the race from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the United Club on the west side of Levi’s Stadium through Intel Gate A. There will be free parking available for this purpose in Yellow Lots 1, 2, and 3. Racers are expected to complete the course at a 20 minute per mile pace, and for the safety of everyone involved strollers will not be allowed on the course. For further safety, there will be first aid available at the start line and at various stations on the course, and there will be full medical staff at the finish line in case they are needed.
