Come enjoy a San Jose property that keeps the country feel alive in the midst of the busy city. Emma Prusch Farm Regional Park offers over 43 acres for guests to explore. This site served as a dairy farm for many years and Ms. Prusch deeded the property to the city in 1962 to be kept as an agricultural based park. Guests can enjoy a large barn on this San Jose property where 4H livestock projects are housed. Young children enjoy coming to see the animals, which vary throughout the year. In addition the barn, there are also community gardens, a fruit orchard, open grass for picnicking and flying kites, several buildings available for rent, as well as reservable picnic areas.
Kids Who Live in San Jose Take Care of Animals and Learn to Garden
All who live in San Jose can also take advantage of the many educational programs that take place at the park. The “Hatchery” is a class geared toward preschool aged children. It allows young children the chance to learn how to get along and socialize in a farm setting, as well as work on motor skills. Classes are also available on Saturdays and introduce children to the joys of cooking, gardening, taking care of animals, and being in the outdoors. Summer camps are offered from May until August. Children can enjoy spending the summer caring for animals and growing vegetables in their own garden. Visit the farm online to learn more about the park and plan a visit to come check it out.
